Refrigerant leak and recharge
Refrigerant circulates in a sealed loop. If the level is low, it has leaked out somewhere, often at a flare joint, a valve or a corroded coil. A recharge on its own is a temporary fix. A proper job means finding the leak, repairing it, pressure-testing the system and then charging it to the correct level. Expect to pay more for the leak work than for the gas.
Blocked drain or water leakage

- Brand and parts. Genuine parts for some brands are expensive or have to be ordered. Compatible parts are cheaper but ask about warranty.
- Refrigerant type. Newer refrigerants such as R-32 and R-410A are priced differently from older R-22.
